North Dartmouth, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth were able to overcome a deficit late in the game to tie the Plymouth State Panthers, resulting in a 4-4 tie of Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) rivals.
Plymouth State opened the scoring about midway through the first period when defenseman Richie Zobak (Evergreen Park, Ill.) scored from the point to put PSU up 1-0. The Panthers added to the lead only a few minutes later when sophomore defenseman Zach Sarig (Wyomissing, Pa.) scored off the one-timer to make it 2-0 to close out the first period of play.
Both teams scored in the second period. The Corsairs got on the board when sophomore Dmitry Antipin was able to steal the puck, race in back unassisted to make it 2-1. The Panthers were able to answer back only minutes later when freshman Josh Woody (Sunderland, Md.) scored to make 3-1 at the end of two.
Plymouth State made it 4-1 with only a few minutes left to play when junior defenseman Dave Walters (Ottawa, Ont.) took advantage of an empty net. The Corsairs answered back only a few minutes later to make it 4-2.
UMass Dartmouth scored twice in the last two minutes, one of which came with only 13 seconds to play, for a final score of 4-4.
The Panthers will wrap up the regular season this coming Tuesday (2/19/2013) as they host Fitchburg State University
