Worcester, Mass. – The top wrestler for Plymouth State University, Senior Femi Wheeler (Mamaroneck, N.Y.), earned All-Region honors this past Sunday with a solid fifth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championships at Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Sports and Recreation Center.
Wheeler placed fifth in the 157-pound weight class after posting a 4-2 record in the tournament, winning two of three bouts on Sunday.
The PSU wrestling team co-captain capped an outstanding season and career. Wheeler wraps up the season with a 17-4 record, including capturing individual titles at tournaments at the University of Southern Maine and Roger Williams University. Wheeler ends his career with a 75-36 record overall.
Freshman Chris Perrault (Saint Johnsbury, Vt.) also had a strong showing for the Panthers. After a loss in the opening round, Perrault came back to win his next two matches, before losing in the consolation-round. Perrault wraps up his freshman season with a 16-12 record, good for second on the team in wins.
