On Tuesday, April 2nd PACE presented standup comedian Joe Narvaez in the fireplace lounge. The HUB was packed well before Narvaez took the stage and everyone was buzzing about what they thought he was going to be like. “I thought he was hilarious for people who like offensive comedy,” said sophomore Dominique Perrin.
It’s pretty likely that everyone who attended would say the same thing. That it wasn’t what they were expecting. The room was a little silent at the beginning of the act. But as the crowd adjusted to his x rated sense of humor, the laughs poured out of everyone from the “upper deck crew” and the “wedding stairs” referring to the main staircase in the HUB, to the “squawking” group in the back.
Narvaez was constantly talking to people in the audience and attempting to get them to fess up to the things that they’ve done because “it’s college!” “I thought he was hysterical. He did a great job interacting with the audience and getting them involved in his show. I can’t believe I got a picture of him and ‘Waldo,'” said junior Shannon McKane.
Overall, it was a great turnout in the HUB and Narvaez definitely knew how to draw laughs out of people, even if it did make you feel a little ashamed for laughing afterwards. Junior Zach Thomas said, “He was funny. I think Plymouth State needs to have comedians more often. The atmosphere at the show was great and very upbeat. With the grind of school and work it was a great change of pace that let me relax and take a breath while laughing along with my friends.”
