PSU LACROSSE DOWNS CLARK UNIVERSITY

Worcester, Mass.- Plymouth Men’s Lacrosse kept their winning streak alive Wednesday with a 15-10 win over non-conference enemy Clark University. Junior Brett Miller (Windham, NH) had a Career game capturing five goals and showing leadership to give PSU a solid win. This marks Plymouth’s fourth straight victory.

Before the game, Junior Adam Nassaf had strong feelings about their current team. When asked about how they would fare this year he replied “You know, it’s hard to say because there are still games to be played but this team has really improved. We have all been playing together for a couple years now, so I think that contributes a lot towards team chemistry. I feel like this team has what it takes to go deep in the playoffs.”

Plymouth started the game forcefully as Stephen Patch (Newbury, NH) scored a goal off a Mike Ventura (Columbia, NJ) assist, with 1:19 remaining in the first quarter. Soon after, Miller started his five goal night with an unassisted goal making the score stand at 2-0.

Clark University came back strong early in the second period, scoring six goals, while PSU could only tally four. The score at half remained tied up at six a piece.

With 14:32 left in the third quarter, things began to catch fire for PSU after a goal by Stephen Patch. Five more goals came in favor of the Panthers as they showed their late game dominance, making them stand on top of Clark University 12-6 by the end of the third.

The rainy conditions seemed to work in favor of Plymouth and as Mother Nature made her statement, so didn’t the Panthers. After giving up four goals in the fourth quarter PSU capped the game with a goal from both Stephen Patch and Brett Miller.

Plymouth made sure to capture every aspect of the game as Senior Devon Smith (Plattekill, NY) won 7 of 9 face-offs and Junior Scott Giusti (West Newton, Mass.) stole 11 of 15.

With the big win, Plymouth improves their overall record to 6-1, while Clark University falls to 6-4. The Panthers look to keep the hot streak alive for a 5th straight win this Saturday, as they play a home game against conference enemy Eastern Connecticut State. Clark University looks to get back on top in a conference matchup against Regis College.

Player of the Game goes to Junior Attack Brett Miller. With five goals on the night, Miller improves his overall point total to 22 (13 Goals, 9 Assists). In his second year with the Panthers, Miller continues to show his dominance on the field and looks to be one of the most valuable assets on this squad.
