Keene, NH- the PSU Men’s Lacrosse team lost a tough battle against top seeded Keene State on Friday, 19-9. Although they fell in the second half the Panthers had an extreme improvement from the year before, where they failed to score a single goal against Keene State in the same exact game.
Junior Attack Zach Frank finished the season with a team high 51 points (16 goals, 35 assists) and put his career point total to 118 points which is 21st all-time at Plymouth. Junior Chris Annunciata (Waltham, Ma) and Brett Miller (Windham, NH) tied for second on the team with 36 points each. Annunciata led the team in goals with 33 and Miller scored 21 goals himself.
Plymouth State started the game ahead 2-0 on an unassisted goal by both Shawn McEvoy (Spring, Texas) and Ty Long (Dover, NH). Keene would come back shortly with two goals of their own to make the score tied 2-2 early. PSU and KSC would split the goals for the rest of the quarter making it an even 5-5 heading into the second.
Keene State showed early dominance in the second quarter, scoring four quick unanswered goals, three coming unassisted. Chris Annunciata delivered PSU’s first goal of the quarter off of Zach Frank’s playmaking. Plymouth and Keene each scored two more goals to finish up the half making Keene State ahead 11-8.
KSC’s second half defense proved all they would need as they held Plymouth State to only one goal, which came in the third quarter. Eight more goals came in favor of Keene, and with 19 on the board the chances for Plymouth to win slipped away in a flash. With the final score being 19-9, Plymouth’s great season ends while Keene State moves on to their fifth straight LEC Championship game.
