Field Hockey Continues Strong Season

 

The Plymouth State field hockey team extended its winning streak to five games with a 3-1 triumph over Framingham State University. The Panthers defeated the Rams in a Little East Conference matchup Tuesday afternoon.

After winning nine of their last ten games, Plymouth improved its record to 9-4 overall and 8-1 in the LEC. With only two conference games left in the season, the Panthers remain in second place.

Plymouth State dominated the play in the first half of the game outshooting Framingham State by 14 shots. First year Kaitlyn Wilder (Framingham,MA) scored the first goal in the 18th minute off a rebound to put the Panthers up 1-0.

Framingham State responded in the 28th minute to tie the score. The Panthers were quick to react and scored their second goal only three minutes later. Junior Nikki Garvey (Canaan, N.H.) scored the goal off of a penalty corner assisted by Senior Lauren Carroll (Rollinsford, N.H.).

Just eight minutes into the second half Plymouth scored another goal off a penalty corner. This time Carroll inserted the ball to first year Masha Lange (Danville, N.H.) who scored the goal putting the Panthers up 3-1.

Overall, the Panthers outshot the Rams 30-4. Junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Warren (Boscawen, N.H.) made one save in the victory.

Plymouth State will return to the field when they host UMass Dartmouth on Saturday for another LEC matchup.
