PSU Men’s Soccer Looks to Beat UMass Boston in Conference Clash

The Plymouth State men’s soccer team is ready to get their conference record back to .500 after committing a tough 3-0 loss to UMass Dartmouth. Coming off a very impressive 6 game stretch with no losses and only two goals surrendered, the Panthers hot streak came to a halt. Right off the bat, Dartmouth scored with only 2:42 into the game. They went on to score two more and improve to a solid 9-4 record.  Sophomore Alex Herbert is the goal-scoring leader on the PSU squad with five. Adam Edmunds and Petro Masumbuko are also strong sophomore performers with 6 points each on their resume so far this season.  The Panthers will be rolling into a solid UMass Boston team carrying a 9-6-1 record.

These two teams had an absolute barn burner classic last year in which Plymouth won 2-1 in double overtime on Senior Day propelling them into the playoffs. It was a very physical and entertaining game in which Ted Karlstrand and Jacob Sjoberg, two Sweden natives, had two great dramatic goals late in the game. These two teams really don’t like each other and it’ll most likely be a gritty game with some cards thrown around. Plymouth seems poised to return to smooth sailing and keep their playoff hopes alive.
