Plymouth, NH- The Plymouth State Lady Panthers ended their season this past Saturday (November 2nd) with an upset win against conference opponent Eastern Connecticut State University, by a score of 1-0.
All season long have shown glimpses of their defense and how effective they can really be. This game was a fantastic example of just that. PSU shut out East Conn, despite the Warriors out shooting the Lady Panthers 14-6.
PSU’S Freshman Emily Crawford (Wolfeboro, N.H.) was the only player from either side to score a goal in the game. Crawford was able to come off the bench and provide a spark when scoring her first goal of her career in the 63rd minute.
Senior Carol Messler (Durham N.H.) set up Crawford’s goal which was mishandled by the Warriors goal keeper Chelsea Santos.
Plymouth’s Goaltender, first-year Annaliese Schmidt, saved six shots from ECSU earning her second career shutout. Plymouth ends the season on a high note, but was eliminated from playoff contention.
The Lady Panthers dropped four of their last five games finishing the year 6-12; Eastern Connecticut finished the season with an 8-8-1 record.
