Women’s Basketball ends Regular Season with Tough Loss

 

The Lady Panthers basketball team traveled to Rhode Island College, where they were upended by the number one seed in the Little East Conference, 70-33. This marked the end of the regular season for PSU.

Plymouth started the game with a quick 8-4 lead. Rhode Island responded with three straight buckets taking the lead, 10-8. A shot from freshman DeAsia Lawrence (Middletown, CT) tied the game at 12-12 The Panthers couldn’t keep up the intensity, as RIC got the next four baskets. Senior Krystin Corliss (Loudon, N.H.) made a lay-up to put the team within six, but the Anchorwomen stormed on a 20-5 run. PSU went into the locker room with a 21-point deficit, 40-19.

Despite strong efforts from Lawrence, Corliss, and junior Tiffany Lewis (Hillsboro, N.H.), the Panthers couldn’t rally back. Lawrence finished the game with a team high of thirteen points. Corliss had five assists, while Lewis ripped down four rebounds.

The Lady Panthers ended the regular season as the eighth seed in the Little East Conference. On Tuesday they will return to Rhode Island College where the two teams will meet again, but for the quarterfinals of the Little East Playoffs.
