Real Sports Talk with E$

I will be the first person to admit that I am terrible with names. There are probably about 30ish kids that “contribute” to The Clock on a bi-weekly basis, and I can probably put a name to about a third of those people. It isn’t that I don’t care about them, it’s just that memorization has never been one of my strong traits. When it comes to really anything with memorization, I’m not that good, except for odd things, like irrelevant sports information, how to tie my shoes, and geography. That is, without a doubt, one thing that will allow me to go far with this whole broadcast meteorology thing that I am pursuing, in that I have known where states are, as well as where cities are throughout each individual state. It’s weird, I know, but I am “that guy” that people can rely on in trivia when it comes to geography stuff.  Per usual, I am not really entirely sure where I am going with this, but hey, it is what it is.

Before I get too in-depth with the typical bs, there is one thing that I would REALLY like for all of the students and athletes around Plymouth to do. There are people around campus that have been criticizing the hell out of miscellaneous sports teams (football, specifically), and that’s just not cool. The kids that are on this team (or teams) are obviously embarrassed as to how their season went/is going, and there is no need for you to be an asshole and put them down. Just remember that if you aren’t part of the solution, you are part of the problem. If you didn’t go to any of the games and support the team, you can’t go around and criticize people, and challenge groups to fight. Show some freakin’ school spirit and help support these teams, and not be an asshole and put them down.

In other Irrelevant (though I find interesting) sports news:

-All-star games now-a-days aren’t really all that competitive, as players really don’t want to hurt themselves in more or less an exhibition. I always wonder which teams would win if these games weren’t played at 70%

-Not sure who has had worse luck this winter between the men’s basketball team, and the women’s hockey team. Both teams are a few bounces away from being successful this season, and are ones that no one wants to face in their respective post-season tournaments.

-I am very intrigued to see what the post-season awards are for Men’s hockey within the MASCAC. I’d imagine Andrew Wigg has to be Player of the Year, while Wigg, Mike Freitag, Gordon Ceasar and Zach Sarig will be MASCAC first-team. Mike Economos, Tord Thoresen, and Josh Woody should be on the second-team (and of course, Craig Russell for Conference Coach of the Year).

-Boston Bruins fans are way too sensitive about their team. Make one comment about them not making the playoffs this season, and half a dozen people jump all over you.

-I’ve been looking at the computer screen for the past 10 minutes, so that’s that with this section.

Non-Sports Information of the Week:

Rant of the Week- It could be about people complaining about the snow and cold around Plymouth, but that’s too easy. This week might just go to people who are mean. I know, it sounds ridiculous, but just think about it for a second; the concept of putting someone down does really nothing for you, and can really crush someone’s spirit. Try to be more respectful of the people around you.

-Craig Russell is the man. I sent him off an e-mail as I usually do with a few questions about his team and what-not, and he sent me back an e-mail that had a really nice intro paragraph to me. Thanks for that one Fresh, I’ll be extra obnoxious at the hockey games just for that!!

-Tieg Alward is another kid that I have grown a ton of respect, and have become really good friends with. I can’t wait for that kid to get a goal this season, and if I am there to witness it, I might just lose my mind.

-I always appreciate people that knock on the windows/door of the clock office just to wave or say hi to me. Don’t ever hesitate doing that if you see me in the office, as the little stuff like that means a lot to me.

-Can’t believe that lacrosse season already starts up in about two and a half weeks.

-Nothing like cold water when you just really need it.

-Might be a little odd, but I look forward to hanging out with some of the parents of kids on respective teams, then the kids themselves.

-Now playing- Kick, Push by Lupe Fiasco.

-My sister puts up way too many pictures of her new dog… that dog has a lot of expectations to live up to.

-Real Talk kinda questions, and if you have an answer, please tell me it. Why in the world do people like cats?

-I always love doing “:10 Seconds” with sports that don’t necessarily get the same attention as others. I like to think it shows people that I do care about their teams.

-This article just isn’t the same without having former EIC Matt Ormsbee here.

-My other sister appeared to be disappointed that I didn’t advertise a date option for Valentine’s Day despite having my own YouTube video (search Eric Brill if you’ve been under a rock). With that said, ladies, I am still single, and yes, I plan on being a weatherman.

-PSU meteorology students still aren’t allowed on the roof of Boyd due to some “incident” that apparently happened. There goes any type of donation that I would have given to that department. Oops.

-I don’t really think I have much more to add. Go team.

Real Talk with Eric- Smile, have fun, and don’t get arrested.

‘Til whenever I write this again, I’m outta here……..
