Beer, sandwiches, live music, and no cover charge? It’s safe to say we’ve all taken a trek down the alley that reveals Plymouth’s great hole in the wall, Biederman’s Deli. With sandwiches to chow down, albums on the wall to gawk at, and all the beer to pretend to know all about, one of PSU’s favorite main street haunts is now putting a greater effort into pairing up with live local musicians.
Biederman’s provides live “Local Nights” every other Friday of the month. The artists are normally local musicians, typically featuring members that attend Plymouth state. They range from local Jazz and cover bands to groups like Plymouth State’s own, Pardon The Spins “Local’s night allows us to promote the new local beers,” says Marissa Prata, a former PSU student and Biederman’s current marketing extraordinaire. The local beers and beers of the month are a big hit at the deli, and word is you can be sure to have a few free sample tasting of the beer of the month while you sway along to the music.
The shows not only provide a good night out with students and their friends, but also with those who live in around town. The responses to the live music from the crowd show the spirit of this town. The mess on the floor at the end of the night has some great stories to tell; dancing, conversing, singing, and the remnants of the Bud bottles spilled over. “The benefit of having the shows is to create awareness to customers of all ages. By providing entertainment it allows locals and students to engage in great, music, food, and beer.” Says Prata. So grab a friend, enjoy a sandwich to start the night, enjoy a beer and listen to the wonderful sounds that bellow out from the back of the deli. The nights are surely well enjoyed by all.
Pardon the Spins will be performing this Friday, February 20, from 7-9pm at Biederman’s Deli. Like Biederman’s on Facebook for more information on upcoming Locals Nights.
