The Plymouth State Softball team dropped a Little East tournament game to Eastern Connecticut on Friday morning to finish their season. The game ended early at five innings with a final score of 12-0.
Eastern kicked off the game with a home run from junior Alyssa Hancock in the top of the first. The Warriors steadily scored two runs in the first, third, and fourth innings before they knocked in six additional runs in the top of the fifth to end the game.
The Panthers were held scoreless and to just four hits for the entire game. Sophomore Emma Rhodes (Rochester, N.H.) connected with a double and singles were tacked on by junior Nicole Abreu (Hudson, N.H.), sophomore Rachel Morrissey (Salem, N.H.), and freshman Nina Murray (Saugus, MA).
Senior pitcher Whitney Roberts (Chocorua, N.H.) tossed just over four innings and took the loss for her last game as a Panther, allowing six runs on seven hits and striking out one. Freshman Jessica Pietersen (Norton, MA) pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief, giving up the last six runs on five hits.
After tying for third in the LEC in regular season, the Panthers end the year with an overall record of 13-21(8-8 LEC).
