The Men’s Basketball team came away with an impressive win at home Saturday, as they beat the first place Warriors of Eastern Connecticut, 83-79. It was the tenth win of the season for the Panthers as they improved to a 10-10 record (4-6 LEC).

The game did not start out in Plymouth’s favor, as Eastern Connecticut jumped out to an early 12-4 lead. The Panthers would eventually chip away at the deficit and show that they could contend with the first place Warriors by taking a 41-37 lead into halftime. The second half is where the Panthers controlled the game not giving up the lead in the final fourteen minutes of the game. The game was put out of reach in the final minutes of the game by sophmore Mike Osgood when he drained two free throws to secure the win for the Panthers.

The Panthers put together their best shooting performance of the season, shooting a total combined average of 57.4%, hitting 31 of their 54 shots. Senior forward Jack Preston (Nashua, N.H.) led all scorers with 24 points going nine for ten on attempts and six for eight rom the free throw line. Preston also added a team high seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, also a team high. Sophomore forward Mike Osgood (Nashua, N.H.) scored 22 points on eight of twelve shooting while draining one shot from three point land and going a near perfect five for six from the free throw line. Senior guard Curtis Arsenault (Berlin, N.H.) pitched in 17 points.
