The Plymouth State men’s baseball team suffered a loss to Framingham State 3-1 at the New England Baseball Complex this past Tuesday, in their first non-conference matchup of the season.

The Rams took the lead early in the game during the bottom of the first inning. Framingham Junior Kyle Pileski (Bristol, Conn.) hit a single up the middle and later scored after a two run homerun from Sophomore Jordan Pallaloza (Rockport, Mass.). The homerun propelled Framingham to a 2-0 lead after the first inning.

The panthers later put a run on the scoreboard during the top of the third inning. Sophomore Ryan Richard (Berlin, N.H.) hit a single and went to second base on a failed pickoff attempt. Senior Jarek Krajewski (Cranston, R.I.) hit an RBI double to left field for the panthers

run, making it 2-1 after the inning. The Rams answered back in the bottom of the fifth when Framingham Sophomore Kyle Lippert (Carlsbad, Calif.) who hit a single, moved to second base on a failed pickoff attempt. A couple of wild pitches allowed him to move to third where he was later able to score. The rest of the game would go scoreless as Framingham went on to clinch the victory.

Plymouth Sophomore David Sampson (Bellingham, Mass.) pitched five innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits with seven strikeouts. Junior Taylor Doyle (Peterborough, NH) took over for relief and threw three scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

The match against Framingham was the first game of the season for the panthers as they go 0-1. Plymouth State’s next game will be this coming Monday, March 12th, at 12:00 PM when they face New England College in Rindge, NH.
