The Plymouth State Men’s team flew by Elms College in the second half last Thursday to earn themselves another win, 77-54.
The game was back and forth in the first half, taking the lead no more than a hand full of times in the first few minutes. Kieran Beck (Danvers, MA), Jaylen Leroy (Manchester, NH), Mike Osgood (Nashua, NH) and Chase Soares (Falmouth, MA) all contributed to the lead taken in the final minutes before half time. PSU blasted Elms with jumpers that capped an 11-point lead at the half (34-23).
Leroy had nine of his 26 points during the stretch at the start of the second half helping to extended the lead, 49-27. Both teams got their fair share of shots and baskets in the final minutes until Osgood’s dunk pushed Plymouth to its biggest lead, 24 points.
Beck added his second double-double of the year in this game with ten points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Osgood also added 11 points and seven rebounds to PSU’s dominating game and junior Liam Densmore (Portland, Maine) also threw in 11 points off the bench.
PSU and Elms had just about even scores when it came to rebounds, points in the paint and turnovers. But PSU had ten more assists than their opponents that showed more ball movement and what helped them get this win.
PSU in their next game on Saturday the 9th would get dominated by Eastern Connecticut, 107-55. The bright spots for the Panthers were Osgood with 19 points and Leroy with 14 points.
This makes the Panthers improve their record to 4-4 overall on the season. They return home on December 16th to face Johnson State College at home. Tipoff isfor3pm.
