“Superhot”: A Fiery First-Person Shooter

Superhot is a first-person shooter (FPS) where time moves only when you move. There is no health bar and you will die in one shot. You are against all odds fighting red figures wielding guns and melee weapons. Using strategic maneuvers to slice, punch, shoot and throw objects into enemies, the game feels more like a battle of wits then a shootout brawl. As if living in the Matrix, you dodge slow-motion bullets while taking part in an artistic gun fight.

Visually, this game doesn’t have the best graphics, but contains a unique style that draws in the player and almost talks to them as the game goes on. The visuals seem simple, but they are provocative and give off an enhanced feel in this experimental FPS. Some puzzles will have you in a rut, but after a few runs you will start to put the pieces together. It serves as a great time passer with a freaky storyline to match. Many things happen in the level design that make the game feel broken or glitched, but that is actually part of the experience.

One downside that has been bothering many that play this game is the content. The game itself is remarkably one of a kind, but many people feel it is too short. Once beaten, Superhot has some unique modes to play, but not enough. This game deserves more content and levels to validate a full purchase. Having an increased amount of levels with larger variants of difficulties would bring the game some new hype to build upon. As it stands now, this game is a great work in progress, but with a boost of content, Superhot would thrive for anyone who likes a mind-boggling shooter. This game is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation. Go check it out today.
