On Friday November 11th the Plymouth State women’s ice hockey team battled against Castleton at Spartan arena. The two teams went through two periods scoreless before Castleton netted two in the third that the Panthers wouldn’t recover from.
The first goal came 10:56 into the third from a power play goal by freshman Nicolle Trivino assisted by sophomore Jocelyn Forrest. The second and final goal of the game came at 19:58 with two seconds to go on the clock with an empty net shot by Junior forward Hannah Rose, unassisted.
After the game Junior Liv Bates (Pennsauken, NJ) quoted “What we can take away from this past game is that we played well as a team, but it didn’t go our way on the scoreboard. Finishing is the biggest thing.”
This loss to Castleton puts the Panthers record at (1-3-1) regular season and (1-2-0) in the New England Hockey Conference. When asked about the team’s motivation for the rest of the season, Bates commented “I believe we’ve had a strong start contrary to the outcomes of three out of our five games. Our motivation would be that we are a good hockey team and we are determined to prove that.”
The Panthers play away this Friday at Manhattanville and Saturday at Salve Regina.
