The Men’s Soccer team posted their second win of the season as the Panthers defeated the Eagles of Daniel Webster College 2-0, Tuesday evening, in non-conference play. The Panthers were looking to get back into the win column after losing to Bridgewater State 4-1 on Friday.

The scoring began in the 7th minute as sophomore forward, Juan Rivera (Mt. Kisco, NY), netted his first goal of the season, coming off assists from freshman midfielder Joni Hongisto (Kaarina, Finland) and freshman midfielder, Colin Jerome (Lansdale, PA). The Panthers weren’t done yet in the first half, as junior forward Nick Rutherford (Sydney, Australia) scored his third goal of the season coming off an assist from freshman forward Luichi Villasmil (Maracaibo, Venezuela) in the 31st minute.

The second half became more of a defensive battle as both teams were unable to find the back of the net. Daniel Webster mounted a late offensive push but was not able to capitalize, even after being awarded a free kick late in the game. Senior goalkeeper Felix Lindberg (Stockholm, Sweden), solidified the Panthers win due to his first shutout performance of the season, recording one save on one shot on goal.

The Panthers improve to a 2-1-1 record while Daniel Webster falls to 2-3. The Panthers are back in action this Saturday, 12 noon at Arold Field, as the team welcomes undefeated UMass Boston (5-0) in a LEC conference matchup.
