Making Time

There is an age old saying of, "I don't have time for that." I am certainly no exception. When it comes down to your hobbies and your passions, it is so very important to find the time to do what you love.
Since the start of the school year, I've been disappointed with the lack of writing, and painting that I've done. I've been working on homework, going to classes, work and extracurricular clubs/organizations. This is not to say I don’t enjoy these things; however, it has felt overwhelming like all my time has been consumed by these activities with none left to do the things that I really want.
With the outward focus of go, go, go, I haven't given myself the chance to stop and smell the roses. Creative writing is one of the things I love most in this world, and it is about time I push other things aside and focus on it. This is but my life and I'm ready to stop the actions of others from interfering with it.
Life is about something different to each person. To me, it is about embracing everything it has to offer. This includes all of the things that my mind has to give back into this world.
There are stories bursting from the inner workings of my brain, prying desperately at the surface, ready to escape. There are characters waiting for the world to meet them. There are paintings trapped on a blank canvas, needing me to be the tool to bring them to life. Who am I to stop them?
Maybe there isn't much time for me to discover in between my busy days, but when push comes to shove, time can be found. There is plenty of time spent doing absolutely nothing that I can take advantage of.
When it comes down to making time for what you love, time is not spent: it is a gift. Every second that I spend doing what matters to me, is time that I would never want to replace with doing anything else. Living with no regrets involves not regretting the things that you occupy your time with. Every day should leave a smile on your face and a sense of achievement, even if just over the little things.
So here's my resolution for the next few weeks: do things that will inspire happiness in myself and in others. By doing so, life becomes that much more fulfilling and there seems to be a purpose to strive for. No one should put aside the things that make their life a happy one.
