It shapes up to probably be my longest day/night of the semester, as I have a decent amount of stuff going on. I write this on Wednesday, April 8th, on my way down to Bridgewater State University with the Plymouth State Women’s lacrosse team, and we are just north of the greater Concord, NH region. It is 3:06 PM, and the game doesn’t start until 7:00 PM. By the time it is all set and done, we will probably arrive in Plymouth around 1:00 AM technically on Thursday morning. While getting back that late isn’t terrible, I still have a few things to do after that, as I will have to lay out the sports section of the paper when I get back. Best case scenario, is that I finish doing that at about 5:00 AM, and by that point, I might get about two hours of sleep. If I still have the adrenaline going at that point, I might reconfigure by weather tape, and include some stuff that I have done this semester from a broadcast practicum class that I am taking. It might not sounds like a very long night, but, we all have those long nights at some point in the semester.
I really don’t have a whole heck of a lot to say this round, as I’m not in my usual surroundings when I write this. It’s crazy to comprehend that the NFL Draft is already less than a month away, and there is a TON going on during the weekend that is wrapped around April/May. Aside from the NFL Draft, the Kentucky Derby is that weekend, along with the Manny Pacquiao/Floyd Mayweather fight. In Plymouth, it is Spring Fling weekend, so the true colors will show up around campus for that weekend. I’m kinda done writing in paragraph form, plus, the bullet points are the best part of this column anyways.
In other irrelevant (though I find interesting) sports news:
-I really hope that the Oklahoma City Thunder miss the playoffs. Aside from not being a Russell Westbrook fan at all, I’d love to see a team from New Orleans make the playoffs this season.
-Never gave any type of MLB prediction, but I’ll roll with the St. Louis Cardinals defeating the Los Angeles of Anaheim of California Angels in six games.
-NBA wise, as you may or may not know, I’m a Golden State Warriors fan, but they will run into trouble if they go against a team with a great big man. For their sake, they better hope they don’t play the Pelicans, Houston Rockets (if Dwight Howard is healthy), or the San Antonio Spurs. The winner out of the Western Conference? I’m going to go with the San Antonio Spurs over the Golden State Warriors in six games. The Spurs will then beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games.
-Trading Phillip Rivers straight up for the second overall pick would be a very interesting deal. The Tennessee Titans and San Diego Chargers have been supposedly talking about this deal.
Non-Sports Information of the Week
Rant of the Week- Where does the school exactly believe people will be able to park for graduation? They are making graduation weekend into an absolute nightmare with the ALLWell North stuff. What a pain in the ass that project has really become.
-Just crossed over into Massachusetts, and the snow is coming down pretty good. I guess it just adds to the adventure today will be.
-I always take it as a huge compliment when people to ask me to edit their work, as it shows that they have faith in me to be observant with their stuff. Case in point, Molly Gleason just came up to me to tweak a few things in her resume.
-Pretty annoyed at myself for the overall lack of skiing I did over the winter. I still wish that Cannon was the mountain that PSU picked for the student mountain this year, but other airheads decided Waterville is better.
-Cracking a Monster open at 12:30 AM never seems like a good idea, but hey, sometimes, ya gotta get it done.
-I still say Eric Brill for Plymouth fan of the year award.
-To go along with typical bs that I put in the column, ladies, I’m still single and the duration of time that I am in college isn’t getting any longer.
-MyPlymouth is such a pain in the ass when it doesn’t work. What am I suppose to use as an excuse for not getting my work done? “My network ate my homework” ain’t gonna cut it.
-Can’t wait to see my main man Tyler Cote up in Plymouth within the next few weeks.
-I’ll never understand how traffic starts. I understand that people merge on to the highway, but doesn’t give and take allow traffic to move at a consistent rate?
-For someone who enjoys the cold and snow as much as I do, I can’t wait for Spring temperatures and weather to move into the area.
-I’m so ready for this school year to be over, and start the next phase of my life.
-Why haven’t I been listening to music while I’ve been writing this damn thing?
-Note- it's now 4:35 on Thursday morning, and I'm somewhat approaching being done.
-You get weird feelings of being watched when you are in the HUB during this time frame. Somewhat sketchy.
‘til the next time I write this, I’m outta here…
