EAST CONN. SLIPS PAST PSU LAX IN 4TH

Plymouth, NH –  Eastern Conneticut defeated the Plymouth Men’s Lacrosse team 9-8 last Saturday, in a little east conference shootout. This win makes East Conn. 4-7 overall, but their conference record jumps to 2-1. Plymouth falls to 2-1 in the conference, with a 6-2 overall record. The Senior Day loss snaps a four game win streak for the Panthers.

The game got started with a quick goal by Zach Frank (Wakefield, Mass.), with 14:43 on the clock. East Conn. responded with two goals of their own from junior Mike Jordan (Cheshire, Conn.) to make the score 2-1. Plymouth bridged the gap thanks to Junior Chris Annunciata (Waltham, Mass) who found the back of the net with only 59 seconds remaining on the clock.

Plymouth State scored first in the 2nd, from Junior Brett Miller’s (Windham, NH) strike with five minutes off the clock. ECCU rapidly scored three more goals in a row, two more from Junior Mike Jordan, and took the second period from the Panthers. The score remained 5-3.

PSU came back strong in the 3rd scoring four goals compared to East Conn’s one. Ty Long (Dover, NH) and Shawn McEvoy (Spring, Texas) each found the back of the net, while C.J Frates had two beauties to get Plymouth back on top. Going into the 4th the score read 7-6 in favor of the Panthers.

Things went downhill for the Panthers when East Conn. posted three goals in less then a minute. ECCU Junior Mike Jordan scored his sixth goal of the day, and proved he came to Plymouth with no mercy. Although Plymouth scored the final goal the score remained 9-8 and PSU’s fire was finally put out.

Plymouth Men’s Lacrosse looks to jump back on track Wednesday the 17th, in a conference matchup against The University of Southern Maine. Plymouth will be on the road for the rest of the regular season, but look to grab a high playoff seed with hopes of home field advantage.
