Student wants to know what’s the deal with the HUB fire alarms

Dear Clock,

I am just writing with a concern about the recent “false alarms” in the Hub. In the past week the HUB fire alarms have gone off three times, and the students haven’t really been given an explanation as to why they are going off. Rumor has it, dust is setting them off, but if dust is setting off the fire alarms so easily, why don’t the fire alarms go off when the HUB fills with smoke because the flue in the fireplace is broken? It is a huge inconvenience to everybody, people doing homework in the HUB before class, the fire fighters, not to mention it is wicked cold out. If we have to have this problem, why can’t it be in May when everybody wants to be outside anyways? I am just saying, it has happened 3 times, all of which were unnecessary, and when the HUB fills with smoke from a real fire, the fire alarms fail to do there job.

Sincerely,Tim Sacco
