PSU Intramurals set to spring into action

Spring brings new life to the world, including the world of sports and gaming lifestyles, and as the snow melts away, the friendly warmth of the new season creeps in and beckons many students to emerge from their winter hibernations in order to partake in the benefits of outdoor activity. This is the time when Jose Gonzalez and his staff in the Recreation Programs Department really get the ball rolling on PSU’s spring intramural sports lifeline.

Jose Gonzalez sits at his desk in the rear of PSU’s Hartman Union Building with a confident gleam in his eye as he looks forward to the upcoming spring intramural sports lineup that will include such new events as wallyball, Frisbee golf, outdoor (beach) volleyball and the golf tournament aptly called the 18-Hole Golf Scramble. “The golf tournament is an event I am really looking forward to,” said Gonzalez. Being in his first year as the Coordinator for Recreation Programs, Gonzalez couldn’t be more excited about his new spring intramural sports lineup.

“We’re looking to spice things up with Spring Fling this year,” said Gonzalez. “We will be doing Frisbee golf and the perennial favorites as well, such as Spring Fling Softball.”

Gonzalez fits the philosophy of the Recreational Programs Department and his ideas on where he wants this program to be paralleled with the quote that can be found on their homepage: “As a team, we will provide a wicked friendly, knowledgeable, and comfortable recreation environment for the diverse PSU community.”

The lineup for the Spring Intramural Sports season will include four on four Wallyball, seven on seven outdoor soccer, ping pong, Bowling Night, wiffleball, ultimate Frisbee, 18 hole golf scramble, Spring Fling softball and billiards.

For more information about these events contact the Recreation Programs Department located in the fitness room on the main floor of the HUB. Get out, get some sun and have some fun this spring thanks to the Recreation Programs Department.
