PSU Men’s Ski Team Eight at Bates Carnival; Women’s Team Finishes 13th

 

Newry, Maine – The Plymouth State men’s ski team skied their way to a 8th place finish this past Saturday (2/23) in the final Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) race of the season as part of the Bates College Carnival at the Sunday River Resort.

 

The Panthers had four men finish in the top 30 of the 75 racers. Senior Chris Beadon (Ridgefield, Conn.) led the way for PSU, crossing the line at 12th to tie his top finish for the season. It was his 8th top-20 finish this winter, which was good enough to qualify him as a first alternate for the NCAA Championship on March 6-9.

 

The next three finishers for PSU came in right after one another. Freshman Takerhiro Watanabe (Sapporo, Japan) at 28th, sophomore Andrew Beck (Lake George, N.Y.) at 29th, and senior Parker Spear (Sodus Point, N.Y.) 30th.

 

Freshman Eliza Whatley (Carrabasset, Maine) and junior Leigh Anne Connors (Lake Placid, N.Y.) were the top finishers for the Panther women. Whatley placed 50th, whereas Connors came in at 57th.

 

The University of Vermont captured both men’s and women’s team, outscoring the teams from UNH and Dartmouth College respectively
