Chariot of the Sun

Friends of the Arts Regional Arts Council’s Art Encounters Education Program presents, Chariot of the Sun, a one-man theater program based on Greek mythology. Students at Bethlehem Elementary School, Lafayette Regional School, Moultonborough Academy, Proctor Academy, Southwick School, and Union Sanborn Elementary will enjoy this engaging performanceSchool October 25-27. Since 1991, Chariot of the Sun has been praised by educators and students alike and performed for more than 10,000 students all over the USA. Using a combination of poetry, masks, mime and audience participation, Chariot of the Sun brings these classic tales to life inviting students to meet and get to know the heroes, gods and monsters of Greek mythology. It is a dynamic presentation that offers an accessible and fun introduction to the stories of ancient Greece and is accompanied by a helpful study guide that our area teachers can use to extend the stories and theater into their regular classrooms. Students will enjoy all of the masks used that are specially handcrafted and based on a style made popular by an early Italian street theater called the Commedia dell’Arte.
