Primal Polphony comes to Plymouth

Ever wonder what songs Galileo heard when making his world-altering discoveries? What Michelangelo may have listened to when he was exhausted from painting the Sistine Chapel? What music Shakespeare might have heard while coping with writer’s block? What could have been playing in the street outside Leonardo Da Vinci’s studio? You will find out if you come to hear Primal Polyphony in a concert of Renaissance music-music from one of the most exciting periods in human history. At times, the music is searing and mournful, at others, joyous and hopeful. The performance will include works by Josquin, Tallis, Byrd, Lassus, Palestrina and more. Primal Polyphony is a New Hampshire-based vocal trio whose singers Wilhelmina Bradley, soprano; Annie Philips, mezzo-soprano; and Charles Bradley, tenor capture the intimate beauty of early European music with lyrical voices, accessible stories, and infectious spirit. Instrumental recorder interludes, also played by the trio, will provide for a varied performance. Primal Polyphony appeared on NHPR’s Front Porch show this month. The concert is to be performed as part of the Holy Spirit Arts Series at The Church of the Holy Spirit, Episcopal, 107 N. Main St., Plymouth, NH on Sunday, November 6th at 3:00 PM. A $5.00 donation will be collected at the door. Refreshments will follow the performance.
