Just say WOW

Blizzard Entertainment, one of the biggest game companies, was delighted by the fan base that showed up at their first ever BlizzCon. BlizzCon is a convention for fans of the company’s games, most notably, World of Warcraft (WOW). The highlight of BlizzCon was undeniably the expansion pack scheduled for release sometime next year. The WOW expansion, titled The Burning Crusade, not only ups the level cap from 60 to 70, but also adds high level spells and abilities for high level players. Also, there are plans to introduce new high level dungeons and items. The entirely new continent of the Outland is being created, a notable edition for anyone who has knowledge of the Warcraft mythos.Weather is finally set to appear in WOW. No longer based solely on the region you are in, now rain, snow and sand storms will be a possibility in any zone.Besides mention of time travel to previous epic battles and places from Warcraft’s history, the biggest news about The Burning Crusade has to be the edition of two new playable races, one for the Horde and one for the Alliance. As of now, only the Horde race has been reveled, the Blood Elves. Touted by critics as Blizzard merely wanting to give the Horde “a pretty race”, the Blood Elves have already come under fire. However, the specs released on them are rather impressive. Six classes are available to the Blood Elves: priest, warrior, rogue, hunter, mage and warlock. As for the Alliance’s race, no details are available as of now. Rumors are flying on Blizzard’s forums, but for now the only feasible one seems to be that of the Draeni, a tree like people (think the Ents from Lord of the rings). Also, epic flying mounts have been announced. If you thought raising 90 gold for a regular mount was tough, you have no idea what you’re in for, according to developers. Since some new locations will only be accessible by flying mounts, they will very difficult to obtain. Finally, a new profession was announced, jewel crafting. The jewel crafting profession would allow a player to not only make rings and necklaces to sell, but also the socket items. Familiar to anyone who has played the Diablo series, socketed items are being implemented into WOW. Socketed items allow a player to augment an item containing a socket with a jewel. For instance, in Diablo II socketing a diamond in a shield would raise defense, while putting it in a weapon would add lightening damage. Expect the same system to apply in WOW.Still a ways away, World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade has already become welcomed news for the WOW community who has, in the year that the game has been out, played it enough to experience most everything it has to offer.
