Chicken Little – Nov.4When saving the world, it helps to be a little chicken.The animated film, Chicken Little, gives a new spin to the classic fable of a young chicken who causes panic when he mistakes a falling acorn for a piece of the sky. In this laughable adventure a piece of the sky really does fall, and Chicken Little attempts to save the world aided by his partners in crime- Ugly Duckling, Runt of the Litter, and Fish Out of Water. Go see this flick for a bit of nostalgia and fuzzy childhood memories.

Jarhead – Nov. 4Jarhead (the self-claimed moniker for the Marines) follows an enlistee, “Swoff” (Jake Gyllenhaal) through a tough run in boot camp to active duty in the Middle Eastern deserts. Sergeant Sykes (Jamie Foxx), heads up Swoff’s platoon while they fight against an enemy they can’t see for a cause they don’t really understand. The characters trudge through this movie laced with sarcastic and dark comedy, while they wait to see what lies on the horizon. A dark witted appreciation for the tragic and absurd is needed to enjoy this movie.

Pride and Prejudice – Wide Release Nov. 23Based on Jane Austen’s novel, this classic tale of love comes to life in the class-conscious England of the late 18th century. The Bennet sisters, including the strong-willed Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) have been raised for only one purpose: to find a husband. When a wealthy bachelor moves in to a nearby mansion with a circle of socialite friends, the Bennets are intrigued. But when the ‘snobbish’ Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen) connects with Elizabeth, the battle begins and all bets are off. Watch this movie with a lifted pinky at teatime.

RENT – Nov. 11There’s no day but today for Jonathan Larson’s rock opera characters as their story hits the big screen. Rent follows the lives of a group of bohemians struggling to live in New York City’s East Village. “Measuring their lives in love,” these starving artists strive for success and personal acceptance during the trials of illness, poverty, and AIDS. One of the longest running shows on Broadway, Rent shows you how to live for the moment. Feel inspired by this movie with a red ribbon and a tissue.

Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire – Nov. 18Harry continues to come of age in the film based on the fourth novel of the seven-part tale of wizards and witches. Harry leaves the Dursleys behind as he port keys off to the International Quidditch cup, crushes on Cho Chang, and feels the burn of The Dark Mark. As Harry is thrown into a dangerous competition that hasn’t happened for a hundred years, mysterious events unfold at Hogwarts leaving Harry unprotected. With the fourth novel holding a count of over a thousand pages, you can’t help but wonder what the film leaves out. Don your favorite house colors and arrive an hour early to opening night.
