Bad Dawgs, Plymouth’s local hot dog stand has been busy since opening a year ago. In the new semester, they are branching out beyond the realm of food.
Now, with the addition of its Keene location, tentatively scheduled to open on Saturday, October 6, Bad Dawgs is finally on its way to achieving the goal of becoming a household name.
Since Plymouth State students have returned for the new school year, Bad Dawgs has added many extras to their already busy schedule. Students heading back from the bar can rejoice once again, as late night is up and running, with a new special $.99 Naked Dawg. They are also sponsoring a new trivia game, as well as serving concessions at all of the athletic events this fall.
The biggest change at Bad Dawgs is the new delivery service they will be providing until 10 p.m. on weeknights and 11 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday. DeMoura acknowledges that while most establishments that deliver food in the area work much later on the weekends, he feels that Bad Dawgs is personally responsible for all of their employees. “We care about our employees,” he said. “We don’t feel safe with them delivering until 4 a.m.”
On October 12, in coalition with “Spirit Night,” Bad Dawgs will debut its latest addition to the menu, the Panther Dawg. A brainchild of Bad Dawg owners Jeff DeMoura and Jodi Dickerson, along with PSU President Sara Jayne Steen, the Panther Dawg is currently top secret, and the ingredients will not be revealed until the event. DeMoura did comment that the “new breed” is based on Steen’s favorite hot dog from when she was a child.
“We wanted to do something for the University,” DeMoura said. On that day, the Panther Dog will be sold for one dollar, with all the proceeds benefiting Steen’s “Imagine A Way” scholarship fund.
It doesn’t stop there. Currently in the process of franchising, Bad Dawgs is still considering many other locations in college towns across New England. They also have recently begun working on a new endeavor for the Bad Dawgs Company that will debut in the near future, right here in Plymouth. So far, the details are being kept on the down low, so be on the lookout for where they will pop up next.
