Archeology Month: Can you dig it?

Archeology month is under way at Plymouth State University, and the Anthropology Club is celebrating with four free movie festivals, a costume contest, and guest speakers.

“We would love as many people as possible to come and join us at the free movie festival and also we would love people to take part in our costume contest,” said Amanda Allen, the president of the Anthropology Club. There is a two-dollar fee to enter the costume contest, which will be held during the movie festivals. Participants are encouraged to dress as characters from Indiana Jones movies or Tomb Raider.

The Anthropology Club meets every other Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:30 in Rounds 223. Guest speakers scheduled for next week, October 10, are archeology club president Amanda Allen, Beth Porter, Betty Hall and Dr. David Starbuck, all of Plymouth State University. The discussion will be titled “On the Road in England and Scotland” and will focus on British Archeology.

A full list of movies to be shown is available in a variety of places around campus including the Hub and Prospect Dining Hall.

The film festival is being held to spread the word about the Anthropology Club. The Club is made up of students who are both anthropology majors and minors as well as students who are just interested in the field. New members are always welcome to Anthropology Club meetings.

Activities of the club include talks from professionals, conferences and museum visits.
