
Beverly, Mass. – Led by the impressive play of Junior Cassie Graham (Foster, R.I.) were able to overcome a powerful Endicott College team and pull out a win in non-conference action.
Even though they managed three shots on goal the entire game, all of them were on point with two of them finding the back of the net. Graham scored a goal apiece in each half off the breakaway for PSU. Despite controlling the ball for the majority of the game, Endicott could not capitalize and the PSU lady panthers were able to finally record their win of the season.
Kudos to the impressive play of Plymouth State goal keep Chelsea Duval (Dover, N.H.) who was able to block 27-28 shots to keep PSU in the game.
North Dartmouth, Mass. – The PSU women’s soccer began their Little East Conference play against rival U-Mass Dartmouth in a game that would ultimately end in double overtime. The game would ultimately turn into a slugfest as both teams traded goals back and forth all day in what turn out to be an exciting game.
U-Mass Dartmouth got on the board early when a PSU clear landed almost directly on a Corsairs player foot and was able to hammer it in. Plymouth State answered back only a few minutes when junior Molly Todd (Epsom, N.H.) was able to find the back of the net for her second goal of the season. The Corsairs scored with about 15 minutes remaining to take a 2-1 lead into the next half.
It looked as if U-Mass had the game sealed, but sophomore Emily Bell (Derry, N.H.) was able to convert a pass from Todd on a rush with about 10 minutes remaining to send the game into overtime. A win wasn’t to be however, because U-Mass finally found the back of the net to pull out the win late into the overtime period.
Plymouth, N.H. – The Plymouth State women’s soccer team next played host to the team from Eastern Connecticut State University in Little East Conference play.
The Warriors were able to get on the board early and took a 2-0 lead going into the 2nd half. After the Warriors scored yet another goal towards the start of the 2nd half, the Plymouth State was finally able to get on the board when junior Sam D’Agati (Reading, Mass.) was able to drill a penalty kick into the back of the net to put the score at 3-1. After the goal Plymouth State was able to put together a few good scoring drives late, but it wasn’t to be as The Warriors scored yet another goal late in the half to put the game out of reach for PSU.
Castleton, Vt. – The women’s soccer team of Castleton State College played host to Plymouth State in non-conference this past Monday at Spartan Stadium.
Castleton State came out swinging early, as they scored twice within the first 11 minutes of play. The Panthers were unable to answer the strong play of Castleton and faced a 2-0 deficit going into the 2nd half. The Spartans came out with the same intensity as the first when they scored early to put the score at 3-0. Plymouth State got called for an own goal after a small scrum in front of the Plymouth net resulted in an attempted clear being driven into the goal to put the score at 4-0. Castleton State scored a final goal with minutes to go to end game with a score of 5-0.
Plymouth State returned home to face Lyndon State on Wednesday (9/26)
