Manchester, NH -Three years ago you may have seen Geof Gagnon walking around the Plymouth State campus as an English Major. Now you’ll be seeing him playing guitar and singing some background vocals on stage at the Van’s Warped Tour and on the inside of Alternative Press Magazine with his band, Ambry.Since graduating from Manchester Central High School Geoff spent a year at PSU and then left to be with the band as a full time commitment. Today they’ve been together for over three years and are comprised of Geof Gagnon, Chris Thibault, Justin Bloch, Aaron Bernard, and Derrick Flanigan. Gagnon say’s he has high expectations for the band, especially since they’ve already accomplished some great things. Meanwhile, bassist Aaron Bernard says with almost as much seriousness that his goal for the band is to get “a house with a highway attached to it.” Their first record will be released May 17th and is entitled “Holding on By the Blindfolds We Hide Behind”. The album was produced by Jessie Cannon, who has produced albums for other bands such as The Cure, Hot Rod Circuit, and Allister. The album will be in Strawberries, FYE, Hot Topic, Tower Records, and Best Buy stores across the country. After playing hundreds of shows across the country and accumulating a large fan base Ambry was offered a record deal with The Death Scene Recording Company, a subsidiary of Equal Vision Records who have represented such bands as Saves the Day, Coheed and Cambria, Bane, and H2O. The band plays original music that suffers by being put in one genre, but it is made up from influences in the genres of rock and roll, pop-punk, post-hardcore, and even hip-hop. They have a similar sound to that of Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance. The band has already played the Van’s Warped Tour and co-headlined the Utterpunk Tour last summer, which included over 2 months of touring and playing across the entire country. They even supported such bands as Armor for Sleep, Moneen, and Silverstein. Look out for Ambry playing a venue near you.
