On Monday, April 16, acclaimed artist Kirsten Reynolds will be speaking in D&M 314 as part of the PSU art department’s visiting artist program. Reynolds is known for her installation art, sculptures and prints. Since 2004, she has been doing solo exhibitions in galleries and museums from Maine to Texas under the name Kirsten Reynolds Studio.
In her artist statement, Reynolds says about her interest in architecture-influenced art, “I play with architecture and language, disrupting their expected rational construction with humor and uncertainty.” She has been a guest lecturer throughout New England since 2004, and an artist residence/workshop host at different museums, colleges and facilities in the region since 2006.
Reynolds will be spending time with “BFA In Studio” art students to give them feedback on their thesis exhibits, visiting classes and presenting a talk that is open to everyone at PSU, as well as the public. Cynthia Robinson, teaching eco artist and director of the Karl Drerup Art Gallery, said about Reynolds’ upcoming visit, “This will be a great opportunity to hear how an interdisciplinary artist is developing her career.”
Come out and listen to Reynolds speak in D&M next Monday!
