In reponse [sic] to you [sic] editorial, “Vandalism getting worse?”, I am offended. I am not offended that the fact that you are bringing this subject up, yes it happens. What I am offended by is the inappropriateness [sic] use of language within the article. The last paragraph starts with “In the end, it comes down to this — Own your $#it!” I know this is a quote by a certain professor on campus, but if you are presenting the news to the general public, it is inappropriate to use foul language. A point was brought up in my journalism class that this is just a college paper, but i’m [sic] assuming that most people who work for the clock, [sic] will be doing something with journalism later on in life. This should make you think.. [sic] “Would I want top [sic] submit this to the New York Times [sic] as an article/editorial of mine?” All in all, I am just expressing that I am offended, but I am only less than one percent of the student body.
Thank you,Catie Wilson
Editor’s Note: If you refer back to the editorial, you will notice that the phrase “own your sh#t” is not in quotation marks and is not being used as a quote by a professor-it was simply the term chosen by The Clock staff to express the deep-seeded frustration we felt towards the students that were vandalizing the campus.
