Fitchburg, Mass. – The PSU Field Hockey team took a trip south this past Saturday to take on Little East Conference rival Fitchburg State University in what would turn out to be a thriller up until the last few minutes of play.
Fitchburg State opened the scoring in the game at about the 14th minute of play when a Fitchburg State player was able to break free up the middle of the field and squeak one by the PSU goalie to make it 1-0.
Plymouth State was able to finally get on the board later in the half, when senior Olivia Colborn (Lancaster, N.H.) was able to get a shot off after an assist from junior Lauren Carroll (Rollingsford, N.H.) to put the score at 1-1 going into halftime.
The Falcons took the lead again early in the second to pull ahead and put the score at 2-1. The Panthers responded only a few minutes later when sophomore Tayla Carrado (Saugus, Mass.) fired a shot that found the back of the net to put the score at 2-2. Junior Jackie Morin (Scarborough, Maine) scored both her first goal of the season, and the game winner, only a few minutes to put the score at 3-2 and seal the victory for the Panthers.
The PSU Field Hockey team will next be in action when they host Endicott College this coming Wednesday at 4 p.m.
