Plymouth State was overrun last week with entertainment, parents and good-natured competition as Homecoming kicked off celebrating the nostalgia of “Now and Then.”
Events ranged from the Lipsync contest, to the Alumni Pub Night to the Plymouth State University football game. Other headline events included GrooveBoston, the Family Dinner and Carnival on the Green. The campus and the town were formally introduced to the new PSU President, Sara Jayne Steen at Saturday’s Welcome Reception. Even poor weather on Friday night, which delayed the fireworks for a day, couldn’t damper the mood.
“Overall, I am extremely happy with the way that the entire event came out. Of course, there were parts that were unexpected, but that happens with all events,” said Josh Boardman, co-chair of PACE’s Homecoming and Family Celebration.
The entire PACE board was involved in scheduling and planning the events along with the PACE advisor Rodney Ekstrom, alumni relations and many volunteers.
“There were two chairs and one VP of annual themes that had a hand in planning the events. We had been planning these events since the end of last year and had been talking with agents and companies throughout the entire summer. All in all, many hours have been put into planning these events,” said Boardman.
Victory was in store for the men’s soccer and football teams. PSU’s victory over Keene State University in soccer propelled the Panther’s to first place in the Little East Conference.
All in all, the beautiful weather (for the most part), major sports victories and safe events made the weekend successful and fun-filled for all.
