1. Miike Snow – “Animal”First of all, who the heck spells Mike with two “Is”? This guy, and he’s super awesome… which is why he can get away with it. There are a bunch of remixes of this song I’ve found and I recommend the “Punks Jump Up” one. It makes me feel like I’m partying with DJ Pauly D!2. Peter Gabriel – “Games without Frontiers”I have my friend Lauren to thank for showing me this one. What a sweet song. This song is about as weird as I feel that I am. I am happy to find songs once in a while that make me feel like that.3. Yeasayer – “Ambling Alp”I love Yeasayer, and this music video is very neat as well. My favorite line is “You must stick up for yourself son / Never mind what anybody else done.”4. Dem Getaway Boyz – “Imma G (Memory Tapes Remix)”This is an excellent remix. It’s a little rock n’ roll which I like. This was actually on a CD that was available for free download on AdultSwim.com. This song would be good to dance to.5. Lady Gaga- “Monster”I am literally one of LG’s biggest fans and think she’s truly awesome and not just a fad. I believe that she has the power to make a lot of changes in the world and I can’t wait to see what she can accomplish. “Monster” is awesome because it kind of encompasses what she’s trying to do with her sophomore album, “The Fame Monster,” and is where her dimension is revealed as far as how creative she is becoming.6. Hall and Oates- “Rich Girl”This is my house song with the roomies, gotta love Hall and Oates! These dudes tell it like it is. “And don’t you know, don’t you know / That it’s wrong to take what is given you / So far gone, on your own / You can get along if you try to be strong / But you’ll never be strong.” Touché guys, touché.7. Rihanna – “Rude Boy”Rihanna’s got the right kind of attitude. She’s badass, even after Chris Brown decided she was going to be his personal punching bag. This song is basically a girl telling a boy what’s up for the night. Oww oww!8. Neon Indian – “Should Have Taken Acid with You” I just discovered Neon Indian last week, and let me say, they’re a bundle of joy. They have this ’80s and ’90s sound that comes outta nowhere. Some other good songs by them are “6669 (I Don’t Know if You Know)” and “Terminally Chill.” I’d like to meet one of these Neon Indians.9. “Young Guns” – Moonlight BrideThis song was on the most recent Paste Magazine sampler, if you haven’t heard of Paste you should take a gander at their website and maybe even subscribe. Every issue of the magazine comes with a free sampler of new music. I have found so many good songs from Paste. This is one of them. Moonlight Bride reminds me of Band of Horses but a little more angsty.10. Thievery Corporation-“The Richest Man in Babylon” I like this song because of the funky beat and the relaxing voice. Thievery Corporation has elements of acid jazz, lounge and Middle Eastern music. I think anyone would like them because they’re calming to listen to. Another favorite by them is “The Time We Lost our Way.”I hope the kind of music that makes you feel the most like yourself finds its way to your ears this weekend.
