Biddeford, Maine – Plymouth State University made short work of an early deficit to secure a victory against the University of New England in a non-conference men’s lacrosse match-up.
After the home team struck early with a pair of goals less than five minutes into the game, the Panthers were able to answer back with five straight. The Panthers were able to post four more in the next period to take a 9-4 lead going into the half.
Plymouth State would go on to score seven of the next eight goals in the next half, including five that were on the one man-advantage.
PSU (2-0) was lead on the day by the stellar play of senior Mike Ventura (Columbia, N.J.) who lit up the first-half with four goals to lead the Panthers for scoring on the day. Junior goalie Jesse Kutz (Hopkinton, Mass.) was also spectacular on the day, tallying 16-saves. Also scoring for PSU was senior Shawn McEvovy (Spring, Texas), juniors Brett Miller (Windham, N.H.) and Chris Annuciata (Waltham, Mass.), and sophomores C.J. Frates (Merrimack, N.H.) and Nick Morella (North Billerica, Mass).
