Level Up Through WWI with “Battlefield One”

World War I certainly didn’t lack weaponry. Metal zeppelins, planes, an abundance of bullets and grenades littered battlefields and skies around the globe. And though these weapons created a new brand of horror for the first global war, they can make for an enhanced war RPG experience.

“Battlefield One,” a new war-based RPG that gains some of its variety and possibilities from this exact kind of sentiment, is one of the most visually-stimulating games in the market. I find myself lost within the world of “Battlefield,” as its 64-player game modes leave you in a battle full of 32-player teams. As one team takes the assault, the other defends with all their hope and courage. Once you spawn, the multitude of weapons, vehicles and gas can leave you frozen with fear, just like a real soldier.

A barrage of bullets will swirl by as soldiers, bleeding and sweating, progress through the open maps shooting. The game offers four classes: Assault, Medic, Support, and Scout. The role is up to the player’s preference to decide on the class s/he chooses to play as in the war.  Each class has a variety of weapons and combinations. Support is a bit beefy, with an endless resupply of ammo, grenades, LMGs and mortars to choose from.

If you like long-range shooting, take the role of the scout. He has a variety of rifles, some with shorter range and more damage, and other rifles with greater range and slightly less damage. He is also equipped with some flairs to spot enemies all over the map, and a trip wire that causes enemies to explode once the wire is touched. If the infantry role isn’t for you, don’t you worry, because “Battlefield One” offers a variety of vehicles at your disposal. Tanks, horses, boats, armored cars, trains, blimps and even motorcycles are all available in the game.

These vehicles change the game drastically, causing people to run in fear, or to tag alongside the mechanical monster and fight through enemy trenches. After every game, players loot crates from which you can attain a certain amount of play time, or gather your points and save up. These boxes can help you unlock puzzle pieces to some pretty terrifying melee weapons and much more.

A variety of skins and XP boosts are always available from the constant updates EA DICE has put in place, with much more to come. The company created a random variety of weapon skins that they cycle through from time to time when players progress through levels online and open loot boxes.

Now, it is time for you to go pick up your copy and join the frontline! Or, pilot the bomber that soars through the sky at war. Be the horseman that slices through the German forces, or take control of the land shark, and create chaos for the enemy line. Get out on the field, soldier, and control the front!
