Dear Editor, I have wanted to write to the clock for some time now as I am upset about a number of things. I have been meaning to write about my disgust over the continued war in Iraq and the destabilization of the whole Middle-East region as a result of the Bushadministration’s foreign (military) policies. The denial of torture goes on with not only no apparent abatement of torture but, in fact, new revelations of secret camps of torture. Who in his right mind would want to adopt a democratic society using the US as a model with all of those inhumane actions? Cheney wants to exempt the CIA? Who also does not believe that gas prices are an artificially priced product? It’s all a deception to blame the price on the weather when the oil corporations show the largest profits ever. The energy corporations continue to gouge the American people while they stuff their greedy pockets. There is a distribution of wealth in this country, under this administration, from richer to richest, with no concern for any members of this society outside the inner circle. Corporations from drugs, to credit card companies, to energy conglomerates are getting sweetheart deals while the working class members of society pay theprice. It’s criminal, and all should be taken to task along with the criminal members of the Bush White House…Libby, Rove, Cheney, Bush… I am disturbed by the move in this country to adopt right-wing religious conservative principles in schools and government. There is a place for faith, but not in the science classroom or the supreme court chambers. We are experiencing the death of the enlightenment. Yes, I am disturbed and disgusted by those things and more. But, I am prompted to write this letter as the result of an article in your last edition of TheClock. In the top right hand corner of page 10 there is a box listing the Top 10 Hottest Professors. I am wondering why Moskowitz of the Art Department isnot there. What was the criteria? Perhaps, you are holding that name for the next issue when you list the Top 10 adjunct faculty members? Thank you for your attention and time.
