Finals are coming up quickly and instead of hitting the books on Monday night, many Plymouth State University students came to relieve some stress and try their luck at Bingo in the Hartman Union Building. But this wasn’t just your Grandma’s Tuesday night Bingo. On Apr. 30, 2012 at 6 P.M., senate decided to spread sex awareness by catering to the younger crowd. Instead of money prizes, they handed out all kinds of sex toys, games and other fun accessories to the winners.
Every seat in the house was full, and some even took to the floor when the games began in the Hage room. Each player received their own goody bag with assorted gifts depending on their gender, and everyone got some free condoms.
At the start of the game, everyone was handed a basic bingo board, and the numbers started flying. With prizes like ‘Pin the Junk on the Hunk’ and a bright pink stripper pole on the line, competition was in the air.
The rules of the game were definitely what made it a hilarious night. Instead of yelling out “BINGO” when you got your numbers in a row, winners had to yell out “I LOVE SEX!” or later on, what their favorite sex position was.
In between the ten rounds of bingo, there were trivia questions as well as “guess the position” based on Cosmo’s app of sex positions. The trivia was a way to incorporate the things that people should know about sex. Things like the definition of consent and the ability to still catch disease even when using protection are important things to know when it comes to sex awareness.
All in all, the night proved to be a success with winners going home with funny prizes while everyone else just got in a lot of laughs. At a stressful time of year, it’s good to take a little bit of time to just have some fun with friends. Senate managed to make the event really enjoyable, providing some great prizes and promoting sexual awareness in a really unique way.
