Presently Preparing for the Future

Ever just sit around and wonder where your future’s going? Is there anything that you can do right now to help build a successful pathway that will continue to provide a walkway after you receive your degree? Joining clubs around campus and getting involved with events held by your specific major and marketing yourself now are surely good ways to get your name out there into the ‘real world’. There are however, ways to stand out and take, as our own Robert Frost once said, the road less traveled.
Chad Johanson, a junior here at Plymouth State has become a pure example of how to begin preparing for the future now. Johanson is currently an employee of the Lamson Library IT Help Desk, the training director at WPCR, and the Vice President of Media Relations for MAPS. In his free time Johanson also helps out Plymouth State by giving tours to potential new students. Besides being so involved around campus, Johanson has taken one big step in insuring a better future. In April 2012, after completing his freshman year here at Plymouth, Johanson created his own business, now popularly known everywhere as NH IPhone Repair. Johanson admitted that during that time he had cracked his own IPhone and IPad within a week of each other and after having to fix his own computer before and knowing friends at the IT help desk who had fixed their own phones decided to give his hand at fixing them himself. After successfully fixing his phone, he decided to try and work his magic on his friends’ phones who had also found themselves with an unfortunately cracked IPhone screen. From there Johanson then created his own website and watched business take off, he easily admitted “NH iPhone Repair has been growing since day one”.
As for the future Johanson admits that, “honestly I have no idea where this business will bring me. I am going to ride this train as long as I can and want to. It might just be for my college career, it might continue after college and into the “real world” or I might get sick of it and try to sell the company. Who knows?” but with that being said his true goal in life is to never have a boss. With a smile on his face he disclosed to me that NH iPhone Repair is “something that excites [him]. [He’s] loved every second of growing this business to where it is now”.
When asked about any advice he has for any other students, Johanson simply replied with the quote “Do something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” before carrying on with the idea that it is very important to get involved now in any way you can, adding the advice that “Plymouth has a tons of groups and clubs to join… There’s a little bit of everything for everyone. Not only is it great to put on a resume, but it’s fun, different and gets you out of your room”. Relating to his own personal experience he describes that “MAPS is a great organization for networking and meeting new people. WPCR is great for music and radio lovers, and giving tours is great for student who want to give back to PSU and show the school to prospective students.”
NH iPhone Repair is currently still flourishing and open for business year round. A screen repair takes around only twenty-five minutes saving you the countless hours it would take you to fix it on your own. NH iPhone Repair also saves you money charging only $75 for an iPhone 4/4s or $125 for a iPhone 5. The reasonable prices include the parts, labor and a life-time warranty, which covers any defects in the screen, like a dead spot. If anyone has any questions for Johanson, or simply would like a quick fix for a cracked screen, they can learn more information on NHIPhoneRepair.com. Furthermore, all PSU students can get 10% off any repair if they mention they go here.
