As Spring Fling Weekend approaches, many of the students who plan to participate in the festivities are getting nervous, due to the system of the ticket sales for the weekend activities, including the performance of well known musical artist and guest, Drake.
One major issue that arose was the weekend weather forecast. Some weather predictions expect rain, which would interfere with the original plans of Drake performing outdoors. However, the ticket sales committee has worked out the plan of selling tickets that would permit the students who purchase them the chance to see Drake perform indoors if it does rain.
However, because these ticket sales are limited, it has created quite a commotion among some PSU students. Many of the students feel that they should be guaranteed the chance to see the concert no matter what the weather is. It is their Spring Fling that was designed for their enjoyment- should any student’s chance to attend the concert be suspended just because of the weather? Or should every student have the right to see Drake, no matter what happens this week?
Corey Almeida, a first-year at PSU states, “Every student should have the right to see Drake, we shouldn’t have to pay. Were already paying $30,000 a year to go there, so I think the least they should do is spot me a ten dollar ticket to go see Drake.”
“I think the sale of the tickets that would permit some to see Drake indoors is a good idea. There really are two sides to it though. It is illogical to expect that the concert would be outside if it was down pouring. So it it’s a good thing that the committee is thinking ahead and creating alternatives, instead of just shutting the whole concert down altogether.”
“However, it is our Spring Fling, and we shouldn’t be penalized from participating in the activities because of something that we couldn’t control [the weather]. I think that there should be a different plan. I think that arrangements should have been made to create a space where everyone who wants to can see the concert. There are things that can be done- we have enough money here, we should find a more sensible alternative.”
Although the students who wouldn’t get to see Drake if it rained would get their money back, many students are already aggravated with the situation. Those who waited in line throughout the entire day certainly will not be happy if they do not get the chance to attend the concert. However, most students are just hoping with an optimistic attitude that their Spring Fling 2010 will be one to remember.
