Edit the sad parts

Spring Fling is pretty awesome, especially if it’s your first time at PSU for the events. There are a few things to take in mind during this weekend.

1. If you chose to drink, do it in moderation.
Going to the show completely obliterated is not fun. Getting sick in a porto-potty is disgusting. So, drink in moderation and think before you drink.

2. Take part in all of the activities.
At Spring Fling there are a number of things to do. Ride the mechanical bull at Battle of the Bands, do the inflatable obstacle course and a climbing wall. Try these things: they are fun, and most of all they’re free. Take the opportunity to do them with your friends.

3. Eat some food
There are several types of concession available. Fried dough is a novelty and usually only eaten on the Fourth of July. So eat some now. I worked in a fried dough stand for four years; it was great giving people a delicious piece of dough. Ask about some of their toppings, including chocolate syrup, apple, strawberry and sometimes caramel syrup. Fulfill your sweet tooth and eat a dough or two.

4. Don’t get arrested
First off, don’t drink in public. That’ll get you arrested easily. Second, don’t drink and drive.  Third, don’t mouth off to a cop. If you follow these     simple steps, you most likely won’t get arrested. The majority of police officers are looking for respect. If you give them respect and are polite, you’ll be in better shape. If you decide to mouth off and be a jerk, then don’t cry about the consequences. You probably deserved it.

5. Wear sneakers
Flip-flops are dumb to wear on a weekend such as Spring Fling. Most likely you’ll break a toe, end up bleeding and lose your flip-flops. Wear sneakers or boots. Wear something sturdy to keep you on your feet and prevent breaking your toe off.

6. Don’t wear something you like
If you wear something you like, it’s most likely to get ruined, end of story.

7. Be respectful to others
If you decide to get crazy and go wild, that doesn’t mean the girl down the hall wants to. Be respectful of others not wanting to get crazy. Be quiet in the residential halls when going home. Don’t be screaming in the streets and try not to stay up until 6:00 a.m. and annoy your neighbors that chose not to drink. Just don’t be assholes, basically.

8. Leave the debit card at home
Leave it at home you won’t need it. Bring cash instead. Also if possible leave your cell phone at home too. You’re going to lose all of these things. Seriously, trust me, you will. Why have to go through the trouble of ordering all new stuff? Just leave it at home.

9. Use a garbage can
Our campus looks beautiful this time of year. Leave it that way. Throw your trash away in a receptacle. Our campus will remain in great shape and your conscience won’t be guilty.

10. Pedestrians
If you choose to drive, beware of pedestrians. People just seem to jump out of nowhere. So, be careful for real.

Have fun and be safe this Spring Fling! Hope to not see you in the police log!
