On Wednesday November 28, 2012, The Plymouth State University Snowboarding Club hosted a sale in the Fire Place Lounge in the HUB. The sale included various snowboarding items from goggles to boots. The sale was organized and run by the Snowboard Club, however, the majority of the tables in the lounge were hosted by local snowboarding enthusiasts also selling their gear.
Sophomore Andy Jessiman said “There wasn’t a huge selection for larger sizes, but it was really cool the way they set it up.”
Vice President of the Snowboarding Club John O’Connor, who was manning the club’s main table at the entrance of the Fire Place Lounge talked about what motivated the group to do the sale. “We’ve done this before and we thought we would help the college kids save some money before the season”.
He went on about how the snowboard club understands how hard it can be for college students to afford gear and they hoped the sale would help bring some ease to those on a budget. In hopes of spreading awareness about the Snowboard Club to the Plymouth community O’Connor said, “We wanted to get rid of our old stuff and bring people together to get to know the club.”
O’Connor discussed how they decided to charge the $5 for the other tables to set up and that money would go towards marketing, specifically advertising for the club.
Business Administration major and Andrew Dooley said, “I got two pairs of splice goggles and a pair of Oakley brand gloves for $50. It was awesome, the guys were nice and they’re just trying to help a brother out.”
There in support of the sale was sophomore and snowboarding fanatic Wesley Evans. “They have a good selection. If I had money I would definitely buy something,” he remarked.
