Dear E-mail recipient or Clock Editor,
I made an error in a letter to you, and I want to correct the error and apologize for it. I am not sure if you relayed my letter entitled ‘Stop the Draft’ on to the public; but, rather than take the chance of having no retraction of an untrue missive I am sending this apology regardless. It is not the Bushadministration that is trying to bring back the draft. House Bill 163 and Senate Bill 89 are authored by two Democrats, Charles Rangel, in the House, and Fritz Hollings, in the Senate. They are the authors of thesebills and they are the representatives who need to be contacted. The Bush administration is not behind the draft bills and I apologize for the ill-founded statement and for jumping to conclusions. If you made my letter public I want it made clear that the error is mine and not yours. The draft bills are in the works, they are real, and the media have been silent about them, especially about their details. I stand by those facts and I hope young people are told the details. I still believe that a Bush administration would lean toward using such bills more than would a Kerry administration, but that is my own opinion. The point is that Bush people are not the source of the bills. I apologize again for saying they were.
