The Panther is “Unleashed”

On Saturday, October 7, Plymouth State University unveiled the new athletic logo. The new panther logo was “unleashed” before the student body, faculty, staff, and alumni at the 2004 Homecoming football game.

As the second quarter of the game came to a close and the players left the field, the homecoming half time show took its mark. The Plymouth Dance team performed for the crowd and a former fraternity presented a donation to PSU. The new logo was presented by a group of Plymouth State athletes.

T-shirts featuring the new logo were thrown through the air to the amped crowd. According to Plymouth Week, the new logo “will begin to appear around campus as the second phase of the visual campaign that began last year.”

During Homecoming Carnival the new logo was displayed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants of the carnival received free water bottles and temporary tattoos displaying the new logo. The new logo “has been trademarked,” according to Plymouth Week. “Only the athletics is allowed to use the panther image now. All other departments and programs will use the university logo.”
