Plymouth, NH – The Plymouth State Women’s Tennis team came out on top after an afternoon match against Southern Maine this Tuesday 18 with the final score settling at 6-3, Plymouth. The victory makes the Huskies 3-3 overall and 3-1 in the mighty Little East Conference. In the doubles matches, Rachel Xavier and Jill Deyermond won 8-2 along with Deyermond and Liz Duell winning 8-3. Erica Huckins, Jill Deyermond, Rachel Xavier and Sarah Cole all won their singles matches, many with impressive numbers. Coach Barbara Rawlsky-Willett of Plymouth gave mention to junior Rachel Xavier who is undefeated in her singles matches, and has lost just one of her doubles matches. She also mentioned freshmen Jill Deyermond who won all her games today and made a strong stand as a first year player to Huskies’ Tennis.The Huskies were coming off an 0-2 week, and this was the first of four home games this week. The win was particularly important to Plymouth, as Southern Maine took the victory the last time the two met. Coach Willett was pleased with the team as it brought the Huskies to a tentative second place, the only contender being Bridgewater State. Plymouth has three more home matches this week; Endicott on Thrusday, LEC opponent Rhode Island College on Friday, and Castleton State on Sunday.
