Coldplay Surprises with Release of New Single

British rock band, Coldplay, pulled a “Beyoncé”on Tuesday night, releasing a new song at midnight and appropriately titling it as such. The track is atmospheric, resembling Bon Iver and The Knife (an electronic music duo based out of Stockholm), employing a feeling of desolation and heavy vocal-layering. The group is often compared to the likes of U2 and Radiohead, two of the band’s biggest influences.

Coldplay is rumored to be preparing a follow-up album to their previous release, Mylo Xylto, released back in 2011. The band released a song last year for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, entitled “Atlas”. It is not certain yet whether or not “Midnight”will be on their upcoming album.
