Brunswick, Maine- The Plymouth State Men’s Basketball team lost a close away matchup against powerhouse Bowdoin University by a score of 58-49. The win for Bowdoin increased their record to 18-2 while the Panthers have dropped four of their last six games making their record 10-10.
At the end of the first half, PSU held a grip on Bowdoin with a 33-31 lead thanks to the help of Senior Alex Burt (Dover, NH) who led team in scoring with 15 points on the night. The Panthers came out strong in the second half where they were able to gain more of a lead with a connected shot from downtown by Burt, putting them up 36-31. After going down 40-33, Bowdoin was able to grab momentum and quickly make a seven point come back.
The comeback turned into a four point lead for Bowdoin but Plymouth was able to go ahead 49-48 as the game approached the four minute mark when Logan Kresty (New Boston, NH) made a three and Burt dropped a bucket as well. PSU was not able to score for the last four minutes of the game as Bowdoin’s defense was able to stop their hot run and secured a win by nine points. At the buzzer it was final, PSU and the boys lost by a final score of 58-49.
The Panthers look to get back to their winning ways after encountering a slump as of late. They will take on rival school Western Connecticut University, in an inner conference match up.
